Enable/ Disable Auto-renewal of Domain

Keeping your domain registration active is essential — if a domain expires, your website and email connected to it stop working, and you risk losing the domain entirely. InstaWP gives you two ways to keep your domain renewed: automatic renewal using a simple toggle, and manual renewal where you extend the registration yourself for a period of your choice.

In this article, we will learn:

Enable/Disable Auto-renewal

When auto-renewal is enabled, InstaWP automatically renews your domain before it expires, so you never have to worry about losing it. Step 1: Log in to your InstaWP dashboard and go to the Domains page from the sidebar.

Step 2: Click on the domain name you want to manage.

Step 3: It'll take you to the domain's Summary page. Select the Settings option from the left menu.

Step 4: On the Settings page, turn on the Auto-renewal toggle.

Step 5: That's it! A success message will confirm that auto-renewal has been enabled for your domain.

To disable auto-renewal, simply turn the toggle off anytime from the same Settings page.

Renew Your Domain Manually

If you prefer to renew your domain yourself, you can extend its registration manually for up to 4 years at a time. Step 1: On the Settings page of your domain, locate the Renew Domain section. It shows your domain's current expiry date and the renewal price. Click on the Renew Now button.

Step 2: A Renew Domain window will appear with your domain details. Configure the following:

  • Renewal Period - Select how many years you want to renew the domain for (1 to 4 years). The New Expiry date updates based on your selection.
  • Payment Summary - Review the renewal price, platform fee, and the total due before confirming. Once done, click the Renew Now button.

That's it! Your domain registration will be extended, and the new expiry date will be reflected on your domain's Summary and Settings pages.

⚠️ Note:

  1. With auto-renewal enabled, your domain is renewed automatically before its expiry date to prevent accidental loss of the domain.
  2. If you disable auto-renewal, make sure to renew your domain manually before it expires — an expired domain can cause your connected sites and emails to stop working.
  3. The total due for a renewal includes the yearly renewal price and a small platform fee, both shown in the payment summary before you confirm.

💡 Did you know - You can quickly check your domain's expiry date, registration status, and auto-renewal state at a glance from the Summary page of your domain. Refer to the Register a domain document to learn more about registering domains with InstaWP.
